A Friend
A real friend is that person who
You can call in the morning at half past two
And she won't yell and she won't shout
Just ask you calmly - "What's the fuss about?",
The one who'll tell you to your face
That what you did was a real disgrace,
The one who'll listen to your woes
And never take sides with your foes.
A friend doesn't lie about your weight
Or tell you that your size is eight.
She'll phone you just for a surprise
And make the tears come to your eyes.
She doesn't gang up with the rest
When you're not feeling at your best.
She's seen you in the morning light
When most of us are such a sight.
She knows your secrets, You know hers,
Your favourite word is share, share, share.
So in the good times and the bad
You're the bestest friend I've ever had.
